I had one of the worst culinary experiences in the French capital to date. I'm not sure where to start and to be honest if I should even start. I wanted to avoid writing this review, but then I thought, NGNO readers deserve to know. Le Francis or Le Mandarin, yes this restaurant oddly has two names, is located in the 9th District of Paris. Right behind Lafayette is one of those places where a large fridge displays ready made Asian food that are heated for immediate consumption. In here, you will experience the real meaning of street food. No welcoming, no smiles, no efforts, no cleanliness - a simple display of food that are filled into plastic boxes and paid for by weight. Le_Francis_Asian_Restaurant_Paris15 The fridge different choices:

  • Noodle soup with fish balls
  • Wan tan soup with shrimps raviolis
  • Noodles soup with pork, chicken, meat or duck
  • Sweet and sour pork
  • Sweet and sour chicken
  • Chicken with pineapple
  • Crispy chicken with ginger
  • Pork spring rolls
  • Ravioli dumplings
  • Pork dumplings
  • Shrimps skewers
  • Salt and pepper shrimps
  • Chinese nougat
  • Ginger
  • Coco ball dessert
  • Spring rolls (Vegetarian, Shrimp, Chicken, Pork)
  • Vegetables fried rice
  • Chopped vegetables
  • Tofu in vegetables
  • Thai beef

Le_Francis_Asian_Restaurant_Paris19 The food:

  • Oily
  • Not fresh
  • Over salty
  • Not Tasty
  • You fill your stomach with tasteless calories followed by a feeling of guilt

Le_Francis_Asian_Restaurant_Paris21 The good:

  • Summer rolls are generous and good
  • The rice is good

The bad:

  • Staff is rude and unwelcoming
  • The place looks and feels dirty
  • Photos are not allowed and I understand why. They want to avoid showing the dirtiness of the place over the net
  • To be able to pay by international credit cards, your bill should be a minimum of 15euros
  • The food lacks taste and finesse. Just oily ingredients mixed together

Pay attention: If you try using your phone to take pictures, you will be treated as a felon by the staff So, I tell you again, this is not my usual review, but a chance to vent out and share the tasteless culinary adventure I had experienced to help you avoid such an encounter the next time you're in Paris.
