Himitsu, Dubai’s award-winning speakeasy, is now redefining Japanese dining in Dubai with the launch of two curated omakase experiences. The series invites guests into the hidden bar, located inside Alba Restaurant at Dubai Opera Plaza and known for its signature red décor, to explore a world of unforgettable Japanese ritual, reimagined with Himitsu’s brilliant twist.
Guests will be transported to a secret haven, unlike anything else in the city, and true to Omasake fashion, the evenings will unfold as a chef-led journey, where every dish is a carefully chosen revelation. These tailored Omasake events are part Metafoodies’ MetaJourney series: a project that promotes mixology innovation through global bartender exchanges, elevating Dubai’s bar scene.
Classic Omakase:
Available from Thursdays to Sundays, with two sessions at 6 and 8 PM, Himitsu’s Classic Omakase is a contemporary spin on the Japanese tradition, with an eight-course tasting starting at AED 450. Each menu changes daily, guided by the freshest seasonal ingredients, ensuring that no two visits are the same. The courses, true to Himitsu’s mysterious ambience, are a culinary treasure revealed on the spot, creating a unique memory for every guest.
The journey is complemented with Himitsu’s signature beverage pairing: a mocktail flight at AED 200 or a cocktail pairing at AED 400. Those looking for an elevated experience, a nine-course Omakase, personally curated by Himitsu’s head and sous chefs, is available at AED 650.
The Classic Omakase combines the stories behind each dish with the artistry and impeccable techniques learnt by Chef Vladimir Chistyakov throughout his journey across continents, transforming the everyday and proving that extraordinary experiences don’t need to be reserved for special occasions. Guests leave satiated and with a memento of the night, as instead of a menu, they are provided a postcard inscribed with the phrase: “The night is a secret — the memory is yours to write...” that they can fill in with the discoveries made that night, becoming a keepsake of their memory from the unique evening.
Siberia is Hot: Chef’s Signature Experience
Launching in October, Siberia is Hot brings the stark, icy landscapes of Chef Vladimir Chistyakov’s native Krasnoyarsk to life. This once-a-month, intimate eight-seat tasting showcases European culinary techniques blended with the subtlety of Asian cuisine. Chistyakov, a globally recognised chef, former food journalist, and social media personality, has received Michelin Guide recommendations, a spot on the World’s 50 Best Discovery list, and was named Chef of the Year in 2022.
Every dish is paired with a selection from Himitsu’s innovative cocktail and mocktail program by rising-star bar manager Dikshant Tanwar. The intimate counter seating encourages dialogue between the guests and the chef, transforming dinner into a journey into the history of each dish and accompanying beverage.
