With a long day ahead in Dubai city, a rich breakfast is a must. Waking up very early, I went down to the eighth floor to have some coffee and grab a few things to eat before heading out. Breakfast at Media One is not bad for a four starts hotel. The choices are wide with a satisfying selection of fruits, an extensive choice of nuts and cereals while a line of casseroles display hot food the English style.

There are a few things that should be attended to immediately, especially that breakfast at the Media One Hotel has great potential... I had breakfast for two consecutive days and finding a clean table to sit on was not the easiest of tasks. Dozens of tables all left unattended to. There are dirty cups and plates and leftovers and one single waiter to handle a complete section. It's not an easy job.

More so, the eggs prepared live were not the best I have had. Stand in front of the open kitchen and order some eggs. It starts with grabbing a bowl and filling it with the desired ingredients - tomatoes, mushrooms, bell pepper, chili pepper or onions. A chef is ready to cook them for you the way you like them. They were not tasty at all. Although they look good, they are soggy and tasteless... I was hoping for better.

And with all that being offered, the choice of cheese can be fresher and wider. They don't look very appealing. They must be cut and served on the same morning and not just removed from the fridge and placed on the table.

Some of the things I liked... include the croissants - as I enjoyed their freshness and crunchiness, I loved the choice of skimmed or full fat milk served cold, the variety of fresh fruits available to choose from.

For a four stars hotel, the breakfast is good but can be much better with a bit of work - simple things like adding more waiters for quicker service and faster coffee for one, mastering the art of making eggs and being more generous with the cheese.

If you're staying at The Media One Hotel, book your stay with breakfast included, it's worth it.
