I'm not sure where to start... how many times have you been offered a complementary breakfast when arriving early to an hotel while they prepare your room? How many times you have been offered coffee while you still wait for the room.. how many times you have met a staff that is trained to satisfy all your demands by the minute... four days at Amathus resort Limassol were memorable and I'll surely remember them for long!
Ideal for travellers seeking a relaxing retreat on the beach this prominent hotel provides a tranquil oasis of holistic indulgence for honeymooners, spa enthusiasts, families and corporate travellers wishing to visit the captivating island of Cyprus.
Planning to spend a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of work, I booked a room in Limassol. It's honestly much more than a simple room, it's a mini suite with a saloon and a private pool. A 30 minutes trip from the airport takes you to the hotel located on Limassol's waterfront next to a dozen other hotels. Amathus is the finest occupying the extreme left side -when looking at the open sea in front of you. A big pool, two sand beaches and half a dozen restaurants, the resort can satisfy all your cravings for a week and probably more.
Arriving at the reception I was offered breakfast while I waited for the room to be prepared. It was 9 am with couple hours to spare.
The first impression:
- A very easy check-in; the receptionist asked for or phone number for us to be informed when the room is ready.
- The place is not too new but clean and neat.
- The hotel hosts several restaurants, a spa and relaxing space.
- Staff is very professional.
Breakfast is served everyday unit 11am, an open buffet with a view on the Mediterranean. Eggs, ham and bacon, jams and bread with a wide selection of cheeses and fruits, there is something for everyone. Two hours passed and believe me, I could have stayed longer. What caught my attention is the staff looking into the details of things, smiling and happy, the professionalism rarely found at beach resorts.
At 1pm, I was invited to the room. A large room hosts a king size bed, a mini bar, a working desk, a living space and a private pool with access to the beach. Bright and well lit, the room is contemporary and trendy at the same time. The best part is the pool, a private area where we spent the hole day sunbathing and working. For lunch we ordered a club sandwich and a bacon cheese burger. Generously loaded plates are eye candy, colours of several layers of ingredients... the club sandwich uses fine ingredients and dislike the thick bread it's good enough. The burger is juicy and tasty but the meat over cooked spoiling a bit the enjoyment. More food was scheduled for the upcoming days before judging if they do it right or not.
On the third day, I ordered room service again. The fine angus beef steak sandwich is different made of a thick juicy meat and not thin slices of steak. A tender bread served warm, melting cheese and a strongly flavorful sauce. The triple decker cheese sub is as tasty but I would have removed the unneeded thick bread borders.
Four days were memorable... I wouldn't forget the fruit plate changed daily, the mini canapés delivered to the room every afternoon, the glasses of champagne, the speed of the room service, the turn down service, the cleanliness and the attention of every member of staff working around here. Everyone is trained to please very professionally. We even got a bottle of olive oil as a thank you gesture.
At Amathus is much more than the two pools, the clean gardens, the positive vibes felt at every corner, the beachfront, the wide bathroom, the relaxing bed or even the gourmet restaurants, it's about a level of pampering done so smoothly you'll want to come back here again.
