A neighborhood cafe up in Mar Takla Hazmieh has been welcoming its usual clientele for several years, catering to their needs; a meeting, a family get together, a casual meal, Amaretti is the place to choose.
Unfortunately old and used, the restaurant needs a serious maintenance from the printed menu and up to the ceiling and floor. Meeting with some friends, I stopped for a sweet bite.
- Chocolate fondant with a touch of alcohol, a hard-textured envelop and a flowing heart. Medium-darkness chocolate with an enjoyable aftertaste. Not the best of textures though, a bit harder than I expected.
- Banana split: chocolate, vanilla and strawberry with whipped cream and a banana cut in half. As good as it should be if only the bananas were ripe and tender, with a bigger portion of ice cream. The scoops are too small.
- Vanilla ice cream, crumbles of crunchy meringue, strawberry bits and strawberry couli to decorate the cup. That’s my favorite of the tree, the freshness of the mix, the whipped cream and crunchy meringues. I strongly believe that the ice cream quantity in the three orders should be more generous.
I heard Amaretti has opened in Achrafieh with a strong presence on social media; I’ll be visiting their new location soon.
