Red and black placemats, a conveyor belt for grab and eat sushi plates, fresh vibes, music, and staff looking sharp and clean. Sushi circle has been open for some time now, and this is my second visit. On a calm Saturday with no chaos, we had lunch alone while enjoying the busy street. Choose the conveyor or a table and start your experience.

The conveyor menu is divided into several plates, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, purple, white and black depending on the price. The dine-in menu is the same as the delivery menu spread over 29 pages. Starters, soups, salads, sashimi salad, sushi, sashimi, gunkans, crispy ura maki, ura maki, sushi circle specialities, hoso maki, temaki, futo Maki, hot food, noodles, sashimi platter, chef choice platter, sushi and Maki platters, sushi lover’s platter, grand master platter, ultimate master platter, dessert.

My first impression: waitresses don’t feel like working. No one smiles. They don’t have big bottles of sparkling water; you’ll have to order several small ones.

Lunch starts when a plate of white ginger, green wasabi and two bottles of soy land on the table.

Honestly... I didn’t write a review last time because there was nothing to write about... below is the answer why.

Lunch:

  • Crispy salmon salad to start, a small portion served in iceberg lettuce laying on a red plate taken from the conveyor. It’s so spicy that it made me cough! Crunchy crisps, fresh salmon, and a light bodied sauce. I would have preferred this salad colder.
  • The circle salad; crab, mango, avocado, shrimp, salmon, cucumbers, and carrots with lettuce and crispy crisps. Even though a bit too creamy for me, and way too complicated, I liked this salad served in a white bowl on a bed of iceberg lettuce.

Now the rolls:

  • Considered as one of the casual sushi diners in town, Sushi Circle can compete with Soto, Ichiban, Sushi Ko and the others.
  • The rolls have a prominent taste of rice, sometimes sticky and sometimes not.
  • Dry, the rolls need a kick, some flavor... actually, that missing taste, some people cover with soy sauce,  without even knowing. I never do soy with my rolls.
  • Salmon sashimi lacks oiliness and fat.

  • Tuna sashimi is dry.
  • Avoid the tiger eye; it smells onions, an onion crunching in the middle and hard avocados.
  • The balls... a ball of sticky rice, an overdose of rice and salty teriyaki sauce on top.

For the food: More balance, less sweetness here and there, more seafood in the rolls.

For the service: better, more organized and please Smile!

That’s my opinion about Sushi Circle.
