Because I’ve been here for dinner and photos were dark, I decided to come back for another experience during lunch period when chefs are calmer and can cook for me without garlic and pasta aldente. Nicoletta opens at 4 pm for a late lunch or call it an early dinner.

Sports playing on the wide screen, a bar occupying the center of the restaurant, the place feels more of an American diner serving Italian food. On the menu, choose from three pasta plates only, the pizzas, some salads, and starters.

Almost everything contains garlic, so I ended up having the calamari with Nicoletta’s yogurt vinaigrette, a pizza and the spaghetti meat balls with the chef’s special sauce created a la minute; until I received Pasta without sauce.

Loved the calamari, extremely crunchy calamari loaded with lemon, but too much salt. It comes with the pizza sauce which I didn’t have but instead was offered the yogurt vinaigrette which gives the needed acidity. Adequately oily, fresh and not chewy, the calamari plate impressed me.

So I received the spaghetti alone, the sauce on the side and dry meatballs in another bowl. Seriously! A decomposed plate because the chef has no other choice and no other ingredient in the kitchen to create a garlic-free sauce. Anyway, I had spaghetti alone cooked with butter and something creamy and oily. The meat balls without tomato sauce are not too pleasant to chew.

I remember Pizza to be better; it’s too thin, too crunchy and the filling is too oily! The tartufata is way too heavy for a pizza. Prosciutto, Tartufo creamy and mozzarella. The pizza is too heavy; I could barely have a slice.

The service was better; the food was better; I’m not sure I’ll be coming back anytime soon.
