I was walking union square when a signboard grabbed my attention. A Kellogg’s shop but not a store; there is something happening on the first floor. Not so exciting I said to myself, but let’s see what’s the Kellogg’s store is all about. I took the stairs, walked up and reached a big space that immediately drew a smile on my face.
I felt like a ten years old kid; I remembered my childhood, my heart started beating fast. Kellogg’s, every kid’s favorite brand, my favorite childhood breakfast, years and years of love and passion with a cereal bowl... as big as I became, I felt like a kid the minute my eyes saw Tony the Tiger, the pops, the rice Friskies and the special K.
On the menu;
- Tropicalia: Rice Krispies, pineapple two way, mango whipped cream, kiwi and mango jam.
- What’s shakin bacon: Frosted Flakes, maple bacon, strawberry jam, Eggo waffle croutons.
- Coffee meringue: Raisin Bran, mini coffee meringues, luxardo maraschino cherries, toasted coconut flakes, instant coffee powder.
- Pistachio and lemon: special k, Frosted Flakes, toasted pistachio, lemon zest, thyme leaves.
Sexy names and sexy flavors as well. Choose one of the bowls or do your own. Maple bacon, kiwi and mango jam together in a cereal bowl! Wow! Mango and pineapple with Rice Krispies! Bravo, bravo, bravo! Gourmet cereal bowls like I’ve never ever imagined, three bowls I finished completely!
Wait, let me rephrase, the food here is awesome! I’m not sure if it’s the nostalgia or the taste; all I know is that I was flying high from joy.
Back to the place, a wide industrial space decorated in a minimalistic way. Painted in white, every corner speaks the language of a product. Red, blue, green, yellow, subtle colors for the young at heart.
Walk to the open kitchen where cereals are prepared and stop by the Instagram photography spot on your way to happiness. They have a background for selfies, multi-colored metallic chairs, and four hammocks.
Photos speak for themselves, enjoy the Kellogg’s dream store I personally adored, and I’m sure you will too.
I love New York...
