I Can't Believe That People Like This Exist in the 21st Century

It's Woman's Day for crying out loud... Do People Like This Still Exist?

I was reading the news about this rude and sexist passenger who left an unacceptable note to the female pilot flying WestJet Airline, a Canadian airline based in Canada. I just want to take a minute to say how shocked I am to read something like this in the year 2014. Some people can be so petty, ignorant and ... It's sad to learn that people like this still exist in the 21st century.

In case you didn't come across the note, which became viral as the pilot herself, Carey Smith Steacy, posted it on her Facebook account (but has been removed).

"To Capt. / WestJet,"

"The cockpit of airlier [sic] is no place for a woman. A woman being a mother is the most honor not as "captain" Proverbs 31 (Sorry not P.C.) P.S. I wish WestJet could tell me a fair lady is at the helm so I can book another flight! Were [sic] short mothers not pilots Westjet.

According to ABC, travelers are using social media to support Steacy. One passenger tweeted the airline "Dear @WestJet, I'm flying to Vegas May 24th. I'd like Carey Smith Steacy as my pilot. A) She's a great pilot. B) She's an ass-kicker." Another wrote "@WestJet if this is true it's the best thing I've ever seen. Carey Smith Steacy, you are fantastic!"

In a statement to ABC News, WestJet said, "We are enormously proud of the professionalism, skills and expertise of our pilots and we were disappointed to see this note."
