Her name is Cynthia Barcomi and she has already published five books. Known to have some of the finest cakes in Berlin, the deli cafe is nestled inside an old complex of buildings made of red bricks. Leave your car in the alley and walk the few meters to the restaurant. Three corridors each lit with colored neon lights meet in the middle court where the restaurant entrance is.

Barcomi's has been around since 1997 serving handmade bagels, sandwiches, round the clock meals and Barcomi's handmade pastries. The place is also known for their coffee, a signature from Columbia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, India and Mexico.

It was fun watching people from all around coming to savor those famous cakes. They look at their plates, turn them around and enjoy the sweet treats I was eager to try.

To have an overview of as many desserts as we could, we ordered two probiertellers. That's a selection of four halves, or eight pieces.

The place is not fancy, it's not Starbucks or a unique coffee shop, but a simple place with wood parquet and beige walls. Commercial, low quality tables, but it seems no one cares, it's all about the food.

I had the Costa Rica coffee, fresh and full bodied, intense coffee flavors and aromas.

Let's enjoy some cakes:

Oh wow! Now I understand why everyone wants to come here -and thank you Ahmad Hoteit, a follower on Instagram for this amazing recommendation. We had eight cakes and the eight of them were fabulous - take it from someone who had been trying to enjoy a mouthwatering dessert in Germany since last Sunday with no success.

The carrot cake is breathtaking, the chocolate espresso cheesecake is exceptional, the blueberry cheesecake makes you drool, the angel's food cake is not like the one I'm used to in Beirut, but one can't deny it is delicious, the walnut tart has an enjoyable sweetness, nice textures and an enjoyable crunch. Indeed, great cakes in Berlin, this place is a must try. The espresso chocolate cheesecake is my favorite.

Eight pieces of cake for only €15. Great value for money.

It was supposed to be a simple tasting, we ended up devouring eight pieces. Barcomi's is your address for mouthwatering cakes when visiting Berlin.
