Mr. Holmes Bakehouse in San Francisco has introduced the "California Croissant" a croissant stuffed with sushi. it's awesome and seems to be the new trend making waves.
Mr. Holme's signature croissant dough is filled with smoked salmon, baked seaweed, wasabi and pickled ginger. The French pastry is then topped with furikake, a dry Japanese seasoning usually made with dried fish, sesame seeds, chopped seaweed, sugar and salt, and served with soy sauce. This is a premiere! Salty, oily, some sesame here and there; it's a very good idea!
Imagine a sushi roll wrapped in French pastry. The sesame seeds and dried seaweed topping that graces the California croissant is as tasty as it is beautiful. The real surprise is what's inside the pastry.
Oh my goodness, it’s way better than you would ever imagine, to be honest. It’s delicious.
