With a traffic jam that delayed our trip for more than thirty minutes, we arrived at the restaurant at 09:36 pm. Despite the delay, we were welcomed and treated professionally. Located at the villa, the same place where I slept and had an amazing breakfast, the Relais also has a fine dining restaurant. Beautiful and simple, the restaurant relaxes the body. A couple of tables only, leaving enough space between them for the waiters to walk in style. I felt good and felt the professionalism from the minute I walked in; I knew that I will enjoy my time.
Focusing on taking good photos, a complete video and writing was not an easy task so excuse the lack of details in my review.
The way wine is handled, the way plates are explained, the way bread is served, butter from Normandie served with a candle under it, homemade bread cut at the table among many other details. Incredible and probably worth more than one star.
I so fell in love with the bread and butter quality, the sommelier preparing the wine and reciting the plates, Rosenthal handmade plates for the restaurant signed on the back and much more to satisfy your senses. I was happy to discuss Lebanese Chateau Musar with the sommelier.
Salted butter from Normandie, lightly chewy bread... let the experience begin! Dinner started with some amuses bouche followed by a cream of melon, foam, and raw fish. I never imagined enjoying melon that much.
Pasta, yes, pasta! Pasta at a fine dining restaurant is not something very usual. Cooked al dente, made with love, complicated flavors, beautifully presented and ready to draw a smile on your face. My favorite of all is in fact the asparagus; as simple as asparagus can be, it has a magical taste and texture.
Lamb, spaghetti, and cod followed! I enjoyed the three, especially the cooking time and special flavors. My lamb was exceptional, a bit salty but unique on all fronts. Cheese followed, and we were ready to move. Staff was tired, and I believe the pastry chef left at that time of the night, so we skipped dessert.
Three hundred and fifty euros wine included is a good value for money. Vibes, food, class, and refinement combined; enjoy the moment and take the stairs to your bed.
