Open for breakfast from 8am and then lunch from 11, Ziggy’s serves eggs, burgers, sandwiches and platters. Jazz playing in the background, I walked in to give Ziggy’s a try. The colors and that big dinosaur at the entrance made me curious. Some people were already here enjoying the food. It’s Monday in San Francisco, and full of life after the weekend.
A black ceiling and stripes of yellow fabric, a menu printed on a big blackboard with an open kitchen filling the place with enchanting frying sounds. The restaurant is a casual eatery - you place your order and take a seat. An extractor fan, straws and a display of mustard and ketchup. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the manager walks around making sure you’re satisfied with your visit.
I ordered the Ziggy’s burger and a Reuben sandwich:
- The Ziggy’s burger is made using a soft French-style dough - not a commercial pain au lait - stuffed with a tasty patty, crunchy vegetables and melted cheese. Loved the flavors of this casual burger that is in between being fast food and gourmet.
- The Reuben sandwich made of black rye bread and stuffed with smoked meat and several kinds of melted cheese. A delicious scent, a crunch, juiciness... a very well done sandwich.
Didn’t expect to enjoy lunch this much. It’s San Francisco’s Ziggy’s.
