Woodbees is an interesting name and its structure is definitely eye catching as you drive through the Zalka highway... Wait until you've set foot inside this immense space. Fresh air, an olive tree, white ceramics covering the floor and lots of wood. It is indeed smaller than it looks on the outside but enough to sooth your senses, making you feel like you're having lunch in a garden, or maybe a tropical forest.

The great first impression reconfirmed as you have a look at the menu. Every detail is mastered to perfection, everything is created with class, professionalism and finesse.

Push open the door to be welcomed by a breath of fresh air while your eyes capture the beautiful images of the TV screen. The menu details are showcased on the screen making the food look majestic. On the right side is the bar protecting the famous machine, the patented grill WoodBees wants to export around the world.

The WoodBees grill is specially designed to cook a variety of meat and vegetables simultaneously. The sandwich making has been automated to guarantee a fast, consistent and fresh meal.

Now for the menu. Beautifully designed this menu is a national premiere. Photos taken with the utmost professionalism make each sandwich look like an unidentified flying object. The hummus looks so classy, the fries are like the ones you have at an American diner, sandwiches kind of talk, the lighting is excellent and the choices will simply amaze you.

Look up, the ceiling is so high and well lit. The wooden shutters, the black metallic structures, I loved the space.

The menu is different, offering a choice of sandwiches no restaurant has managed to blend together. Sides include truffle fries, meat sandwiches include soujok and kebab. Angus burger and frankfurter. The specials are classics, raclette, Bresaola, prosciutto, Parma ham and Comte cheese. A variety of chicken, salmon, fajita. Halloumi falafel. The salads are very generous, the desserts mouthwatering.

  • Shrimp fajita: Super fresh, juicy shrimp, tender bread with a light crunch, a load of grilled vegetables, melted cheese and the sauce, this excellent sauce with a light spiciness.
  • Fries: Crunchy, unpeeled, oil-free and with Parmesan flavored truffle oil. A premiere in a diner and they're good.

  • The meat sandwich: Excellent meat, very good bread, but unfortunately the sandwich is too dry making it lose flavor. It has simply no flavor. Loved the thin bread with one layer of it, the meat is superbly juicy and has a beautiful texture, the bell pepper and grilled onions add finesse... Please add much more sauce.

  • Goat's cheese: Generously filled, the multi-cereal bread crunches lightly while the cheese caresses your palate. The bread is toasted and warmed before serving. Rocket leaves, red bell pepper and honey, lots of it adding sweetness and fun. I loved the grilled eggplants as well. What a generous sandwich, meticulously crafted to amaze.
  • Prosciutto Brie: Awesome! Raspberry jam for the sweetness and taste, melting Brie, which is the best cheese to enjoy melted, and hot and thinly sliced prosciutto. Jam with bits of berries, thick chunks of Brie cheese and fine prosciutto. I'd eat that in an upscale restaurant and was surely not prepared for such emotions at a diner down the road in Zalka.

  • The chocolate sandwich: Oh my god! I'm not a Nutella fan, I don't like chocolate sandwiches without banana, but this one simply rocks! The freshness of the bread toasted until it's almost burnt, offering an extreme crunch and cereal flavors before arriving to the Nutella spread. A light sweetness and bang! The explosion of the hazelnuts under the teeth... Oh man! That is not to be missed.

The details I loved:

  • The sandwiches' names are printed on the packaging.
  • The trays are big and appetizing to look at.
  • The sandwich sizes are big enough, well stuffed and ready to be devoured.
  • Nice music plays in be background.

The things I'd improve:

  • Work on a more welcoming staff. They need training and learning of a positive attitude is all about.
  • Make sure the displays are filled to top for an inviting counter.

WoodBees is owned by Wooden Bakery, but has nothing to do with the commercial side of it. Surely recommended.
