Imagine that I visited more than nine years ago and still remember how great the food was. Located in the heart of Venice a few meters from the famous Piazza San Marco, Da Forni is one of the city’s famous restaurants with signs leading to it around the surrounding streets. Access the first room, walk to the other where more seating is available. Fine-dining style, bread plate, silver cutlery, and butter knives on an ironed white tablecloth. Waiters wearing black ties fake care of your orders, making sure the clientele is happy.

The restaurant welcomes you for a fine-dining experience in the old restaurant and another more casual experience on the other side of the road in the dining space. Stone, metal, and burgundy painted walls; a dimmed and calm ambiance welcomes you. Spaghetti carbonara! I was so happy and excited to find it on the menu.

So yummy! The risotto is exceptional! Cooked al dente, mixed with scampi and champagne, the generous risotto portion is not creamy, balanced and loaded with flavors. A risotto I fell in love with proving that the restaurant was and still is one of the best in the city. While enjoying my risotto, the smooth sweetness, the seafood quality, the rice crunch... bravo!

OMG kind of feeling! Extraterrestrial pasta flavors, tasty beyond limits, cooked with such passion, dedication, and love that will make your body tremble. The spaghetti carbonara is the best I’ve ever had! The bolognese is exceptional, and the lobster linguini made my heart skip a beat.

I’ve had spaghetti carbonara, I travel for this dish, but this one is officially my winner! It’s creamy without cream; it’s loaded, it’s intense and beautifully balanced. I was out of words rolling my fork in the spaghetti before taking it up to my mouth: a yellow creamy sauce, fatty pork cheeks, Parmesan and pepper.

The only negative point: you dine in a box with no windows feeling claustrophobic and far from the hustle and bustle of vibrant Venice.

Bravo again! Visiting Venice, don’t go searching for touristic destinations, enjoy lunch at Do Forni.
