The World's Happiest Countries in 2015

The world’s 10 happiest countries, according to this year’s World Happiness Report which looks at earnings, living standards, employment, mental health and family stability. The report surveyed 158 countries.

The study was published by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and is based on a population's own evaluation of their well-being along with GDP per capita, life expectancy, social support, trust in government, perceived freedom to make life decisions and generosity.

The study ranks happiness on a scale of 0 to 10, with the worst possible life at 0 and the best possible life at 10. Coming in first place as the world's happiest country, with a score of 7.561, is Switzerland with European countries dominate the top ten, sharing the spotlight with other developed countries.

According to the report, the top ten happiest countries in the world are:

1. Switzerland - 7.587
2. Iceland - 7.561
3. Denmark - 7.527
4. Norway - 7.522
5. Canada - 7.427
6. Finland - 7.406
7. Netherlands - 7.378
8. Sweden - 7.364
9. New Zealand - 7.286
10. Australia - 7.284
