THE WORLD’S 50 BEST RESTAURANTS AWARDS PROGRAMME WILL RETURN IN JULY 2022 IN MOSCOW, RUSSIA

50 Best announces that The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2022 awards, sponsored  by S.Pellegrino  & Acqua Panna, will be hosted in the city of Moscow in Russia in July 2022.

The world’s most renowned chefs, restaurateurs and culinary icons gathered last month for the return of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021, the first in-person awards programme since 2019, representing an important milestone in the ongoing recovery of the restaurant sector.

2022 marks the first time the world-renowned celebration will be held in the city of Moscow, hosting the most important annual gatherings of chefs, restaurateurs, media and gourmets in the gastronomic calendar. An extensive event programme hosted throughout the city will culminate in the awards ceremony in Moscow, as the much-anticipated reopening of the international restaurant sector continues and worldwide travel resumes once more. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the superb restaurants, heritage and culture of Moscow, casting a spotlight on the city as an exciting and emerging culinary hotspot.

William Drew, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, says: “With the international restaurant scene gathering pace once again, we are thrilled to announce Moscow as the host destination of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 this coming July. Following the successful return our live awards programme in 2021, we have no doubt that the 2022 event programme will allow the global gastronomic community to reconnect once more in person and celebrate the indomitable spirit of the hospitality sector on an even greater scale.”

Highlights for the programme in Moscow will include a series of key events such as the thought-leadership forum #50BestTalks, a Chefs’ Feast showcasing the finest produce and cooking from the Moscow region, interview opportunities and, of course, the awards ceremony and countdown itself. The July event programme will also be preceded by a number of special awards announcements, designed to honour the achievements of both individuals and establishments. The precise date of the awards ceremony will be confirmed in the coming months.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 event held in Antwerp, Flanders, saw Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark, named The World’s Best Restaurant. The current incarnation of Noma will now join the Best of the Best list of former No.1 restaurants, and therefore will not be eligible to appear in the ranking for 2022 and beyond.

50 Best will continue to use its global platform to highlight even more noteworthy restaurants and bars worldwide – through the 50 Best Discovery platform and its 50 Best lists, special awards, unranked collections and content series – as well as showcase individuals shaping the future of gastronomy through its 50 Next list, the next edition of which will be announced in February 2022. 50 Best will take the opportunity in 2022 and beyond to amplify diverse voices and positive messages, foster progressive discussion and cross-border collaboration, and encourage greater gastronomic discovery and exploration.

The 50 Best organisation’s role in promoting restaurants and showcasing culinary talent remains more important than ever, continuing to support the hospitality sector by inspiring diners to seek out exciting gastronomic experiences once again, whether near or far.
