Let's call it the hotel of free offerings, an intelligent approach making its ratings rise on the net. When you get a 4.7 on google with a deluxe room as small, a bathroom without a door, a slippery shower box, a dark breakfast area, the smell of eggs haunting the hotel every morning and no one to talk with you for the last four days... you ask yourself why! Free internet, free water in the mini bar and free breakfast, at The Tribune Hotel, their are many ways to pamper you during your stay. I honestly was not impressed.
In the heart of the historical centre of Rome, The Tribune Hotel welcomes its guest in a prime location and just steps away from Villa Borghese gardens, Via Veneto, and the main attractions of the Eternal City. Modern yet bizarre design furnishings, offering welcoming cosy and dull ambiance with a wide range of high quality services. Violet and yellow, black and crystals, the space is not up to my personal taste; I expect hotels to be bright and fresh.
The rooms and suites are equipped with comfortable queen-size beds, bathroom with shower, satellite TV, complimentary mini bar upon arrival, Nespresso coffee machine, complimentary Wi-Fi Internet connection and a kettle with a selection of teas and coffee. Expect to hear your noisy neighbors, smell eggs every morning and take your drinks up to the terrace because service doesn't take the elevator.
The first impression is great, enjoyed the room, the smart television with Bluetooth and the possibility of connecting your android or apple devices. A wide bathroom with a speaker connected to the television, blue lights for the night, a working desk and mini bar area. At a later stage I discovered the super slippery very tight shower box, the bathroom without a door making you shower with the cold air conditioning unit on, the bed that is not as big at it looks, noise coming from the neighbors, a television with only CNN and France 24 I understood... for the last five days I didn't see anyone from the hotel management welcome us in or out.
Breakfast is served every morning until 11am. A small area under a low ceiling. Dark and dimmed, expect to hear kids scream and families tell their travel stories out loud. Croissants and Danish bakeries, fruits, eggs and bacon, a coffee machine and some bread baskets. You can order pancakes and omelettes on the side.
My impressions:
- Ratings on the net are exaggerated.
- The hotel's technology is interesting from the air conditioning unit to the television and free internet without having to log in every single time you walk in.
- Breakfast is free but not worth it. I won't have it every morning.
- Staff is gentle and welcoming.
- Bathroom needs serious attention; the slippery shower and add a door to desperate the room. One thing I'll add; never been to an hotel without a magnifier mirror!
No mistakes I can recall, you'll surely like it here for a quick business stay at an affordable price. I personally look at things differently and expected better.
