NM Lima Hotel: A Stylish Breakfast

Visiting the Peruvian capital for a short 48 hours, I chose the NM. A large junior suite priced at $160 including breakfast was a great choice. Nestled in the heart of Lima's new quarters next to dozens of restaurants and shopping centers, the NM is that stylish hotel decorated in a minimalistic way without the sophistication of excessive luxury.

Up the stairs and after passing he huge NM Lima signboard you're welcomed at the reception occupying the center of the large lobby. A large lobby with only couple colors and some design sofas. On the left side is a saloon while the right side takes you to the restaurant.

I was greeted and showed to my room. 9pm already, I visited the bar to take advantage of my complementary Pisco Sour drink. You can't say Peru and not drink Pisco Sour. The restaurant has a certain class and finesse to it, chandeliers decorate the walls of this squearish space filled with square tables. Down the hall is the bar, kind of a cigar lounge without the smoking; the smoking law is strict in Peru.

What makes this hotel special is the main restaurant. Built around it, the hotel rooms have a view on the middle atrium which is the terrace/restaurant made of one single kind of tile covering the wall and floor.

Up in the room my junior suite is large enough. The bed is big and relaxing, a mini bar and a coffee machine, a living space, working desk and a window offering a view on the neighborhood. The bathroom has a shower and a huge jacuzzi which I enjoyed the last day before departure.

The room's issues are many:

  • Out of a hundred channels only CNN is in English.
  • The air conditioning unit has a strong unpleasant and annoying sound which becomes unbearable after minutes.
  • No complementary water bottle is offered.
  • It's a must to have a paper tissue box which is not part of the system.
  • The hotel works on one single elevator.

The good things:

  • Internet is free and speedy.
  • Staff is welcoming as much as their know how allows it. Training needed to learn the rules of finesse and attention.

Breakfast is served every morning from 6 until 10am in the closed room down next to the lobby.

Asking for a late checkout, I was asked to pay $80 for an additional two hours. Didn't find this very ethical.

I believe NM is a good choice for your next trip.
