The Kempinski Doha is one of the most luxurious hotels around the city. Its 60 floors are divided into small, medium and large suites or apartments if you want to say since the one I stayed in was more than 300sqm with four large bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen, a large living room and a dining table.
My friend and I were upgraded to that level although I didn't see the need of it, since we hardly used any of the rooms, most of which stayed closed during our whole stay. Yes, it is a wonderful hotel for long stays, especially that the internet is free of charge, but I would have preferred to have bigger bathrooms and bigger showers for such huge apartments. The staff is professional, the towels are soft and tender with a nice smell, the bed is very comfortable and the bed linens are very soft, the bathtub water pressure is just what is needed and the hotel is very well lit and decorated nevertheless is looks cold and very white.
The only think i didn't like at all and didn't understand is the breakfast. Did I mention the somptuous breakfast at the Kempinski Bruges? one of the best I had in the world? The Kempinski Doha breakfast is unacceptable for a five star: The choice is minimal, the quantities are not sufficient and the buffet size in very small. It is nice to see more than 21 positive reviews on TripAdvisor out of 30 about the hotel. It is indeed a nice one, an experience I would repeat on my next visit to Doha, considering that they get you the Visa in no time.
The big problem in Qatar: Taxis!
Unbelievable in an international business capital. There are not enough taxis to cater the needs and you find all around town many white so called limousine cars who transport you from a point to another at the price they see fit since they do not have any taxi meters. In a capital that will be hosting the World Cup soon, they have a big problem that we faced each time we needed a transportation.
