I have realized, after some experience, that best way to get a feel of a hotel is to sit down amongst the action in the lobby. This is what I did at the Swissotel, I wrote my review as I sat in the lobby, looking around, admiring the staff and checking out the details…
Welcome to the Swisshotel Dresden, a Swiss perfection in the heart of this old German city of Dresden, where simplicity, finesse and luxury blend together to offer perfection.
As the glass door opens, a magnetic force will just grab you in to the atrium, a large square space that’s gray and white decorated with couple of red lanterns. Walk through a floor covered with grey, black and white tiles where a seating area occupies the left side and the reception occupies the right corner. Enjoy the natural sunlight as it enters the space through a glass ceiling.
Here is where all begins, right in the middle, under the light tree, which gives access to the restaurant on the left and to the rooms by taking one of the three elevators. This hotel is full of action, full of life and where a certain class fills in the air.
The exclusive hotel Swissotel Dresden Am Schloss is located in the heart of historic Old Town. Its central location, great shopping, entertainment and nearby historical sights such as the Semper Opera and Zwinger Palace make this the perfect gateway to the city's business and culture. Swissotel Dresden's historic facade houses stylishly modern interior design, with cutting-edge technology and the warmth of Swiss hospitality.
Up on the second floor is my room, a different kind of room originally designed for your comfort. In here, the bath and WC area is located in the middle of the room, a bed faces the window and a closet occupies the back-end next to the coffee area. Rooms are designed for comfort and style, with state-of-the-art technology and all the services and conveniences you need, such as a free internet connection.
Enter a light looking place painted in grey and white with notes of green decorating the walls. Lines of red, green designs, light wood... There’s a business feel to this room, yet it’s super relaxing.
Swiss Advantage rooms at Swissôtel Dresden Am Schloss are well-appointed, providing stylish contemporary design and a light, airy atmosphere, complimented by cutting-edge amenities and views of Dresden’s old town. These rooms are available with a queen-size or twin bed, and whether you’re on holiday or at the hotel on business, you’ll appreciate both the complimentary WiFi and the comfortably appointed bathroom.
Inside this rectangular space, the air conditioning unit is automatic. Set at 21degrees, it cools the air perfectly. A relaxing bed, marble covered restroom and sink all in one room. On one side of the room, where the white TV is located, a wooden shelf painted in red follows the walls side to side, a perfect way to place your stuff. A major detail for me was the number of electrical plugs available all around the room. A desk, a sofa, a table, a carpet, an espresso machine and a view... I liked my room.
Innovative Swiss cuisine is the cornerstone of the hotel's Wohnstube restaurant, for quick & healthy snacks or elegant formal dining. A sumptuous breakfast buffet at Esszimmer offers a wide range of choices to energise your day.

Needless to say that everything at the hotel was great during my 48 hours stay. A fast internet connection, soundproof rooms, good aeration, tasty food, and more importantly boasting an exceptional location in the heart of the city… This is a place I would like to come back to again with my wife soon.
