Skylark: A Diner in Vestal New York Since 1956

RATING:53/100

Looking like any other American diner, I reached Skylark at 10 am. My first breakfast not being up to standard, I was craving some good food. An hour drive from Watkins Glen, this all city seems to be specialized in car resellers. With a rating of 4,5/5 on google maps, I was expecting to be amazed.

Pancakes they call hot cakes, sandwiches, and bagels, the diner serves breakfast 24/7. With five hundred and three reviews already, this place is considered as one of Upstate New York burger restaurants.

Yellow lights, fans, a ceiling covered with metal sheets, a bar and several seating booths like you see them in the movies. The diner has glass all around it letting light come in from all sides and offering a view on the neighborhood.

I was expecting way better! The plates look dull and the food is too commercial. A gooey breakfast wrap that tastes like fish. Eggs and ham on an English muffin are better at Pret-a-manger, and the pancakes are chewier than old bread. Bad, very bad!

I was hoping to enjoy some real American diner food for breakfast, not that cheap thing prepared neither with love nor passion. This diner doesn’t deserve a 4,5 on google.
