Fourth visit and my mouth still waters every time I think of coming here! Sandwiched located on Jal el Dib’s internal road, Gemmayze and Jounieh’s old souk serves one of the country’s best sandwiches, excellent burgers and outstanding American sloppys. Every visit comes with a surprise of happiness and joy. Sandwiched understands food! Sandwiched knows how to use the best ingredients without masking them with garlic and unneeded spices. Visit Sandwiched and prepare yourself to be amazed by food prepared the “real street food way.” Some pretend others think they know... Sandwiched is the real thing. Super duper good food created with exceptional ingredients.
In an old house facing “Djeij w Toum” on Jal el Dib’s internal road, there is some seriously good food! Old stones, handwritten posters, Lebanese tiles, and wooden tables; a relaxing decor. We were welcomed by Hikmat, a very professional manager who takes the order by heart, recommends, and looks into the details of things.
Start with the crunchy crinkles and ask for the honey mustard: it’s one of the first times that I enjoy honey-mustard that’s not sweet, has a white color -not yellow- and has a pure taste. Addictive fries you will enjoy.
Tasty beef rolls made like maki rolls with a tender flatbread stuffed with tender beef steak and a mouthwatering gravy sauce. Swiss cheese makes it even better, creamier and classier. The story of some addictive rolls I fell in love with. I’ve previously tried the chicken rolls, and now the beef rolls are as good as their siblings.
Very good, the burger is very good! BBQ bacon and mushrooms. A classic burger with barbecue bacon, grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms and melted cheddar with an add-on of crispy cheddar patty and spicy jalapeños. A great combination!
Oh My Goodness!!!! What the hell is this amazing sandwich! I literally screamed! The toasted delights, Sandwiched’ specialty, are more than the heart can handle. Buttered pain de Mie the way I like it stuffed with tender chicken breast, barbecue bacon, ham, cheese, sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and the signature deli sauce mixed with barbecue sauce. The balance of ingredients, the sweetness, the quality of fillings... OMG!
The pork sandwich was the least I liked: from a chef who creates a mouthwatering pain de Mie sandwich, how come this French bread is chewy, not toasted, not buttered and lacks life!? Anyway, the pork content is good.
Good food... wait until you’ve tried their chocolate cake!
And the Earth stopped turning… What is this?! A huge piece of chocolate cake that's surely not from planet Earth. Honestly...it's heaven on a plate. A triangularly shaped cake covered with a dark chocolate sauce floating on three layers of sponge cake separated one from the other by melted milk chocolate sauce similar to Nutella. Press the fork down through it until it touches the plate and make sure to have a mouthful of all the layers combined. As your tongue feels the different textures and different flavors, you start feeling heaviness along your eyes as they close all by themselves. Make sure not to moan too loudly...! An interesting sponginess, a lovely sweetness, a condensed richness and a cake that is one of the best ten desserts you can get in Lebanon. I felt like licking my lips continuously... Ten thumbs up for this... because two are not enough!
