Chebli restaurant in Naas, a few minutes from the village of Bickfaya in Metn, has been catering to Lebanese food lovers for past couple of years. The place attracts both Lebanese and tourists as it's food is great and it's setting is even more appealing.
Chebli is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. That may be unfortunate for some, but I believe otherwise. It doesn't follow any marketing campaign that helps boost its name among other Lebanese restaurants. It's a simple place situated between the trees, in a very calm and refreshing area. Chebli serves real and authentic Lebanese cuisine without any sophistication. Every ingredient is prepared with passion by Mrs. Chebli and her son Jacques. In the mountainous area, situated among Lebanon's nature's beauty... a perfect getaway. Believe me it is one of those places that should be visited at least once a month.
Arriving at the place, you are welcomed by Mr. Jacques, the owner himself who makes sure to give you the best table he has, taking the order and following up on the quality served. With a background of famous Fayrouz tunes, we started eating. One of the yummiest Lebanese mezze I have ever tasted: Homemade small portions, perfectly served, with colors and odors that really transport you into another world.
From the mini fried kebbe, the mini crunchy sambousik, to the meat hummus, the freshly cut tabboule, the soft and tender chicken liver with Debs el Remman, the tasty makanek and the crunchy well rounded and perfectly filled cheese rolls to name a few. Simply Wow! I rarely get enchanted by Lebanese food that much, but the experience was fantastic. After lunch, fruits are offered, going back home with a smile.
Typically Lebanese without any modern twists or add-on ingredients, a simple place, a simple restaurant, a simple kitchen, simple food for simple people, all prepared the very old authentic way and at a reasonable price.
My favorite places in town like Al Halabi, Mhanna or Karam are tasty as well with food prepared in quantities and a reception that is very crowded. At Chebli, things are a bit different. It's the place for the friends. In my next top 10 Lebanese restaurants, expect Chebli to be one of them.
