Chebli restaurant in Naas, a few minutes from the village of Bickfaya in Metn, has been catering to Lebanese food lovers for the past couple of years. Chebli is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, calm and simple, the establishment doesn't follow any marketing campaign to help boost its name among other Lebanese restaurants. It's a simple place situated between the trees, in a very calm and refreshing area. I'm always amazed by the unique and generations-old food this restaurant showcases...
In a mountainous area surrounded by nature's beauty, Chebli serves authentic Lebanese cuisine without any sophistication: a perfect getaway. Every ingredient is prepared with passion by Mrs. Chebli and her son Jacques. Arriving at the restaurant, you are welcomed by the owner himself, Mr. Jacques, who makes sure to give you the best table available, he takes the order and ensures quality is served.
With famous Fayrouz tunes playing in the background, we commenced enjoyment of some of the yummiest Lebanese mezze to be had: small homemade portions, perfectly served, with colors and aromas that really transport you to another world. From the mini fried kebbe, the mini crunchy sambousik, to the meat hummus, the freshly cut tabboule, the soft and tender chicken liver with Debs el Remman, the tasty makanek and the crunchy well rounded and perfectly filled cheese rolls to name a few.
Typically Lebanese without any modern twists or add-on ingredients, a simple place, a simple restaurant, a simple kitchen, simple food for simple people, all prepared the very old authentic way at a reasonable price.
I especially come here for the Fawaregh: a dish that may seem easy to prepare but is in fact very complicated. Using the freshest ingredients, the final result is nothing less than perfect. An aromatic preparation that's not fatty nor with a bitter after taste. I would say YUMMY! I made sure to finish a complete portion all by myself. Rice filled sausage skin cooked and seasoned just right, it was perfect. It wasn’t oily and was not chewy. Just fill yourself a glass of arak and you’re set for a long afternoon of simple yet great food in a homey atmosphere.
Restaurant Chebli has evolved, new decor, a new terrace and a new delivery menu... The prices are reasonable and well studied. Chebli is a simple and unsophisticated restaurant where a family serves you as if you're in their home. Stay relaxed and come as you are. If you're planning an enjoyable lunch with the family, head up to the mountains of Metn and reach Chebli. You'll definitely see me there.
