A new “Sushiry” and “Fishery” is now open in Quoraitem. Other than the wide selection of sushi choices, you can walk to the fish display and choose your craving. Smelling fish, you will be transported to the beach for lunch on the white sand. With Nostalgie Radio music playing in the background, my wife and I sat for an early dinner. Fish smell is too strong and a bit disturbing; just saying.

The restaurant has a bar, a seating area, an open kitchen, and a fish display. Paper placemats, blue tables and two wooden bars with their high chairs. Look into the menu decorated with colorful photos they will make your mouth water. I liked the golden feel of the restaurant, the blue colors and the grey fabrics. Ali takes the order with a big smile; he knows the menu by heart!

You can read on the wall: “when life gets you down, just keep swimming”.

Food is average:

  • Marinated salmon: a rectangular plate generously filled with raw salmon marinated with soy sauce and topped with a sprinkle of spices with a decoration of sliced green chili pepper. Salmon from an excellent quality melts on the tongue. A great first impression.
  • The only plate I enjoyed... Shrimp pops, dragon style served in a martini glass. Battered and fried, the "shrimp pops" crunch, tickle the tongue, leave a sweet and spicy touch with a heart that’s moist and firmly textured. Two thumbs up for this!
  • Sushi rolls are part of the midrange group of casual/fast food sushi restaurants. Sticky rice, sweet teriyaki sauce in some, Philadelphia cheese on others and a gooey fish inside. They’re good enough but not what I expected. The ugly plastic green leaf is a big no! This non-recyclable cheap thing reduces the value of a restaurant and should not even be considered.
  • Fried maki is my favorite: the balance between a crunchy envelope and a moist heart makes this roll special.
  • Crab sticks stuffing and a robe of salmon to embrace it; that’s a specialty with a load of flavors but unfortunately, the heart is cold, and the envelop is warm. The mix needs a better balance.
  • The last plate is a special order covered with avocados: delicious soft shell tempura but unfortunately wrapped with thick slices of cold avocado. There are huge differences in temperatures which makes it unpleasant. And the rice is too chewy.

My comments:

  • I expected the food to be unique; it ended up to be average like all fast food sushi places around town.
  • The verdict: "Wrongly treated," good quality products.
  • I liked the music though
  • The smell of fish is too strong and unpleasant

Advertised to be the best in town, Qatch needs some attention.
