Miraval Rosé 2013: A Wine by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

In February 2013 I posted about a new wine, one that has reached our lands just now. Miraval, a rose wine by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has already been noted more than 90/100 by many wine references. The bottle is expected to be sold for LBP79,000 starting next wednesday the 9th of July at Enoteca. Book yours now. the bottle THE VINTAGE In 2013 the winter was long and dry followed by a cold and wet spring and important climatic variations up until harvest. Thanks to a lot of hard work in the vineyard throughout the year, the grapes reached perfect maturity. The 2013 vintage is characterised by a low yield but is very promising. Miraval rosé is a wonderful blend of fruits aromas and freshness, made on an exceptional terroirs in Provence Issued from the Chateaus' best parcels (Muriers, Longue, Romarin), as well as from a selection of vineyards close to the village of Correns, just north of Brignoles in the heart of Provence. Clay & Limestone vineyard, partially in terraces located at an average of 350 meters. Cool climate for the area with big temperature swings between night and day. The grapes (Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle, Syrah) are harvested exclusively in the morning and sorted twice. Destemming. Pressurage direct for Cinsault, Grenache and Rolle. The Syrah is vinifies partially using the "saignee" method. Vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats (95%) and in barrels (5%) with batonnage. Beautiful pale pink colour. An intense nose lead by white flowers, little red berries, freshly crushed strawberries and notes of ripe Morello cherries. The mouth has a beautiful bouquet; round and soft with aromas of cherries, wild strawberries and a mineralilty representative of the Terroir giving the wine great freshness and a slight saltiness. The wine has length and great balance between the fruit and the minerality with complex aromas of wild herbs, limestone and rich citrus fruit.

REVIEWS AND AWARDS « A light, pure, steely style, with a rose petal and strawberry core, featuring white cherry notes backed by savory and stony hints on the finish. The finely beaded acidity lets this stretch out into a sneakily long finish. Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Rolle. Drink now. » James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, Note: 89/100 , 15/06/2014 « Miraval is the new wine business venture of actor and actresses Brad Pitt with Angelina Jolie in association with the famous Perrin family of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their second vintage already, the wine is made in their summer vacation property in Provence, France. Aromas of citric fruits such as orange with strawberries. Also notes of cantaloupe and melon. In addition, floral touches of lavender, garrique and white flowers. In the mouth, medium to full body with a very elegant profile. Very floral finale. » Montréal Times, Note: 92/100 , 12/06/2014 « Clean, refreshing and classy, the 2013 Cotes de Provence Rose offers up plenty of strawberry and citrus-like aromas and flavors to go with a lightly textured, medium-bodied profile that's perfect for a hot summer day. Made by the Perrin Family (of Chateau Beaucastel), enjoy this beauty over the coming summer. » Wine Advocate, Note: 90/100 , 01/05/2014 « This second vintage with the Perrin Family is confident from the off - no need to hawk for customers with an overly seductive blush, this is all about pale, barely-there pinks, charmingly pretty in colour. Lovely floral nose, soft fragrant roses, and from the first taste there is a delicate structure that deepens through the palate. The fruit is on the fresh summer red spectrum - redcurrants, rosehips, a dash of lime zest and wild raspberries rather than the sweet cherries of some rosés, with a savoury herbal edge. But, as the French would say *'il y a du vin'* - meaning that there is a sense of power alongside the elegance, a structure and a fresh acidity that gives the wine persistency, with a grip of minerality that gives a delicious mouthwatering finish. Already in 2012 there was a feeling of restraint and pared down elegance that hadn't been apparent before. The 2013 takes that even further and for me is a truly successful wine. 91 points. Highly recommended. » Decanter, Note: 91/100 , 06/02/2014 « There is a lovely floral nose, soft fragrant roses, and from the first taste there is a delicate structure that deepens on the palate.
