The first time I visited Lounge 36, I was taken by a storm; Charly walked in, offered me a cigar and a handful of food choices... I ended up forgetting to write a review. I loved the experience; that’s why I’m back. Come for the mood, for the food, the relaxing positive ambiance and a chat with positive Charly.
Lounge 36 is one of the few restaurants up north offering the lounge experience where drinks, cigars and goof food blend. Choose the leather sofa and order everything!
Let’s talk about Lounge 36 decor: Wood decorates the ceiling. Mirrors make the place look bigger. Two bars serve a wide selection of whiskeys and drinks. Four glass facades show the busy road action. Wooden tables and leather chairs give the lounge a British style. Music enchants!
Let’s talk about the menu: starters, salads, pasta, burgers, Italian pizza, sandwiches, main dishes, desserts. every Thursday mussels, sushi three times a week.
I love the food at Lounge 36: polo croquante to start. A different version of your conventional chicken strips, fried and marinated in a spicy sauce. I loved the juiciness of the chicken, the subtle crunchy envelop and delicious flavor. The salad is breathtaking! Goat cheese served in a ciabatta bread, dried herbs, crunchy walnuts, super crunchy lettuce, and amazing balsamic dressing. I loved it! Salmon and arugula, as simple as it is for the healthy people among you.
The dynamite shrimp is one of the best the country has to offer. Excellent quality shrimp, super crunchy batter, intensely and pleasantly sweet shrimp I fell in love with. They’re so yummy! The crunch, the sauce flavor, the shrimp quality... and the taste it leaves in the mouth.
Unfortunately for me, today was not a sushi day at Lounge 36 but what I can say from my last visit is that Sushi is one of the best in town. Excellent quality sushi made with fine rice and premium seafood.
Risotto: truffle risotto, a big mountain of it, a strong taste of truffle, juicy mushrooms mixed with rice cooked al dente. The meat filet... you can’t but have this unique steak. Red on the inside, juicy and so tender. Waw! The meat comes with a side of wedges potatoes and broccoli. Steak sandwich the New York way. Then came the carbonara... no-cream carbonara cooked al dente with a strong taste of pepper and chunks of bacon. It’s so yummy! So finger licking yummy!!!!!!
The chocolate fondant is homemade with dark, non-sweet chocolate. It flows like a river of gold. Pain perdu, soft, milky and adequately buttery. I loved the desserts.
Very, very, very good food! Bravo chef. The food you don’t expect to eat at a lounge/cafe restaurant.
