Choose one of the Mexican-inspired traditional tables decorated with colors and start biting into some tortilla chips dipped in homemade pico-de-gallo sauce. Let’s start by introducing Bashir, a chef who has opened La Comida in Montreal, today back to the land of the cedars, he cooks Mexican for the Lebanese. Now in Gemmayze, La Comida serves a traditional Mexican cuisine you will love!
Start with the signature lemon margarita! Homemade the same day, the margarita is served on ice in a salt covered cup. It has a strong acidity to it, a zesty kick and an intense taste of rum.

Enjoying the mood and music, I sat for an early dinner in the city of dreams: Beirut! There are some great restaurants around town; you only have to look for them.
The decor is simple, yellow walls and colorful tables set around a bar lit with chandeliers coming down from the ceiling.
Dinner is served:
- Guacamole: the guacamole is handmade and lively prepared in front of customers. Lemony guacamole using ripe avocados mixed with diced tomatoes and parsley.
- Now for the ceviche: This one, like all other plates, offer amazing flavors, so intense that they will make your head turn. Spices, acidity, lemon: shrimp and tomatoes with coriander. Very good food is served here, food made with love and knowhow, flavors you will remember.
- Yummy! Imagine half potatoes loaded with cheese and covered with crispy bacon bits imported from Canada. Almost all ingredients are imported from Canada especially the spices. This potato is awesome, so beautifully cooked, melted cheese with small bits of crispy bacon.
- Try the quesadillas: a tender dough, longly cooked beans, intense spices and tender, juicy chicken served with a cold, creamy sour cream. I loved it, I really enjoyed the food, and the love poured into it.
Wait! This requires another paragraph. I’ve had burritos; I had enchiladas, I’ve tried Mexican food in the states and Lebanon: believe me, I’ve rarely felt so much passion in my food. Not only loaded with cheese, but it’s also loaded with meat! The pork is so tender; it’s pulled like magic. The beef is tender like butter. Mixed with beans, sauces, and rice, the wraps made my heart skip a beat. An unpretentious cuisine, the Mexican At La Comida is inspired by street food and served in a restaurant.
And here we come again; I was not done yet, and please do not leave without trying La Comida’s ribs. Yes, yes, yes, the ribs are out of this world. Fall-off-the-bone, extremely juicy, intensely flavorful, extremely tasty ribs few manage to do here in Lebanon.
I left impressed, happy and satisfied. Thank you for such a great dinner and amazing food; I’ll be back soon!
