They say you can't come to California and not try In-N-Out. It's a family owned business that’s been around for a long time now with branches across the US. The place reminded me a lot like Five Guys with it’s white and red colors. In-N-Out Burgers place is loaded with customers all day long who seem to come here for their fatty burgers.
The space is clear and white with red line. It’s a diner with a drive-thru, a draft machine and the waiters wear paper hats just like in the movies.
Customers know exactly what they are going to eat: The In-N-Out menu consists of three burger varieties: hamburger, cheeseburger, and "Double-Double" (two hamburger patties and two slices of cheese) and French fries, drinks, as well as three flavors of milkshakes. The hamburgers come with lettuce, tomato, with or without onions (the customer is asked upon ordering, and may have them fresh or grilled), and a sauce, which is called "spread" (a Thousand Island dressing variant). Their slogan is Quality you can taste.
The vibes around here are unique and nothing to be compared with McDonalds or Burger King.
The burger comes wrapped in two papers and this reminds me of the ones at Shake Shack, only with less fat. Super thin patty, two slices of tomato and too much lettuce. You end up feeling the vegetables only. The bun was hard and felt like it was heated in the microwave and it’s salty. What a deception!
The Double Double is exactly the same. You feel the patty more and the cheese, but the thick crunchy lettuce and the thick slices of tomatoes spoil the experience. And what’s the deal with salt!
The fries, the biggest deception ever, undercooked, light yellow in color and the animal style fries covered with cheese were cold.
I expected much better from In-N-Out and I'm happy to tell you that Five Guys and Shake Shack might have copied the idea and colors but they serve much better burgers. Visiting California, in-N-Out is not worth it.
