When you drive two hours from Paris, on small dark non-illuminated roads, you really don’t know what to expect. Booking for a night, my wife chose this "Relais & Chateaux" located in the heart of champagne. Perfection in the details starts from the minute you arrive in, to the second you leave pampering you every step of the way. I loved the place, the room and the morning breakfast served as of 07:30 am.

I was going to Strasbourg, a six hours drive, so why not stop on the way for a treat.

In a peaceful setting in the heart of the Champagne vineyards, the Hostellerie founded in 1973 and built on the site of a former bricks factory, is an exclusive gastronomic residence where one comes to discover the Champagne country. In 1990 the Hostellerie was enlarged and totally renovated.

It has a sauna and spa and a heated swimming pool, which opens out onto the patio. Free WiFi is provided. With a private bathroom, all rooms are heated and feature a flat-screen TV with Canal +, a desk and a wardrobe. Some rooms are suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

Let’s start with the breakfast part: it’s the quality of ingredients that make of this breakfast one to remember. Thick ham, smoked salmon, fresh bread and exceptional croissant! Served in the mansion’s second restaurant, the place decorated with red tablecloth and Christmas trees, takes you on a journey of luxury and style. Three waiters take care of premises serving coffee and taking the order of eggs.

Every table feels like a Michelin restaurant experience: silverware, fine china, big coffee cups, and a wooden board in the middle of the table to cut your bread and croissants.

Food is phenomenal: the bread is outstanding, the smoked salmon is exceptional, the thick ham is out of this world, and the croissant is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Back to the hotel experience, this Relais & Chateaux offers a classy and upscale ambiance felt in the service, the decor and attention to details. Walk the corridors, take a left to the restaurant and chimney room, a right to the rooms: a wide bathroom, a toilet room and a vast sleeping space with a double bed and a television. Silent and beautifully decorated, I hoped time would stop.

Check out the photos and plan your next trip: I will recommend this place to all my friends.
