Professionally delivered in a carton box and plastic recipients, I ordered Ginger & Co on Zomato and waited to be delivered with a thirty minutes delay.
In a box of carton, find a selection of Makis separated by cheap plastic leaves. I was surprised by the undercooked rice in some rolls, the watery feel in others, and the lack of taste in most of them. One piece, then another, until they all start to taste the same. Hard textured salmon skin that urgently needs a sauce, stale crisps, extremely thin salmon... the marinated salmon is so thin you could see the black plate behind them. Honestly, I didn’t like any.
It was not the first time I order from Ginger&Co, refraining from sharing my thoughts until tonight’s deception. I remember it to be way better when it first opened in Hazmieh several years ago. What happened?
Then comes the specials; crunchy undercooked rice, flavorless orders and a salmon that has a bizarre after-taste. Maybe people like them soaked in soy sauce. I was trying to enjoy the Makis without that salty soy, they, unfortunately, end up to be all the same.
One item I liked is the sweet carrot salad mixed with cucumbers and crab sticks.
- The things I liked: the individual soy cups.
- What urgently needs to change: the cheap green nylon sheets. Let the crisps crunch. Cut the salmon thicker. Use less rice vinegar. Have a rice that's firmer and less sticky.
Unfortunate deception!
