Gerge el Dayaa is a seafood restaurant up by the shore in Anfeh. The old blue house with its glass facade is located by the salt factory, next to Marina del Sol on the seaside road. Georges, his wife Nadia and their kids welcome Gerge el Dayaa guests in a casual atmosphere. Today is probably my tenth time at "Gerge el Dayaa", a local seafood restaurant in the heart of Anfeh where fish is handled in a special way, where the kitchen is clean and the aromas are fresh.

I love it here, more and more every time. Simple and unpretentious, the seafood place owned by Gerge and his family serves premium quality seafood brought from the port on a daily basis. I love the plates fresh look, the generous quantities, the amount of shrimp used here and there, the juiciness of the grilled fish, the texture of the octopus and the list goes on and on. I rarely moan while eating but I do at Gerge's. Come as you are, enjoy the moment, appreciate the food and remember to have the crispy fried mini octopus; they are addictive.

The choices are simple: choose your fish, add hummus and a salad, some French fries and maybe some fish specialties of the day and wait to be served. Let yourself go, ask the sons to order for you, taste their great innovative creations... fresh fish, exceptional mixes, everything to make you want to come again the next morning.

It's a simple restaurant that looks like an old house from up in the mountains. Tiles imitating wood parquet, glass facades offer a view of the surroundings, old and worn wooden tables, a TV screen showing Georges' catches and adventures, all in a white space with walls covered in stone. Simple and unsophisticated because food is what matters most here.

The food is succulent. White fish presented on a bed of lemon and oil. Juicy inside out and ready to amaze your taste buds. Local raw white fish enjoyed as is. No sauce needed. Spicy fish - samkeh 7arra - intensely flavorful and different from the commercial plates. Makanek Samak: a mix of soft makanek, mushrooms and shrimps cooked all together in a warm sauce of lemon and oil. A mix of fried seafood: shrimps, calamari and octopus. A lovely mix where every item is vibrant with flavor. The fries are really out of this world. French fries like I used to enjoy at my grandma's. Squid in ink prepared like it should be.

I was happy to revisit Samket Gerge el Dayaa, this restaurant is one of the country's must-tries - at least once in your life. It would be the perfect experience if you get the chance to meet "Gerge" in person.
