One of my favorite department stores, Galeries Lafayette is planning to open a department store in Milan in 2017, according to French daily Le Figaro. The project is still under discussion but could be announced in the next coming weeks. This is part of an expansion plan which foresees five new openings abroad.
Galeries Lafayette has plans to accelerate growth internationally and already operates five department stores (compared to 59 in France), located in Berlin , Dubai , Casablanca, Jakarta and Beijing. The group was controlled by its founding shareholders, the Moulin and Meyer families, until 2005 is now in owned in its entirety by the Moulin family.
