I have tried foul and hummus in Tyre, I've tried them in Tripoli, I've tried them in  Beirut... and every time I share my experience, readers would ask me if I have tried  the foul and hummus at Abou Hassan. Heading down to Bourj Hammoud's Abou Hassan was a definite stop I couldn't miss.

Located next to St Joseph’s church in Bourj Hammoud, a few meters from the municipality roundabout, is Abou Hassan, a famous breakfast shop which opens 24/7, all day, all year.

Filled with a hungry clientele, many come here for Abou Hassan’s unique specialties, the Fatteh, the eggs with meat -and not Kawarma- as well as the in-house freshly baked bread.

Today, I was welcomed by Nadim Habli, Abou Hasssan's son, Hassan's brother who was here managing the shop and taking care of his customers. He insisted on going behind the counter himself and prepare the specialties for us.

In here, what makes breakfast special is the meat, grilled and served with hummus and eggs, it’s different form that used in Awarma, as well as the fatteh, in which Abou Hassan combines tahini and Laban with hummus and not Laban alone.

Everything seems to be special: good food, premium ingredients and most importantly an unmatched generosity. I've seen the ingredients, the Lurpak butter and the premium minced meat, a certain level of cooking which the father started with more than half a century ago.

Let's keep it simple while you watch the video, the breakfast experience at Abou Hassan is a story of a place offering tasty creations.

In this part of Lebanon, away from Beirut, the south or north of Lebanon, Abou Hassan is surely an address you should visit soon.
