At Fiumicino airport, upon the first floor, an Italian restaurant serves a wide selection of local specialties. You don’t expect to have a real restaurant at the airport especially with such a varied menu... and I was craving pasta at 11 am. Spaghetti, fettuccini, and pizza let's have an early lunch at the airport.
Coming back from Malta, I had to stop for three hours at the airport in Rome. I enjoyed a tour of the airport, filmed a video you can watch on YouTube, so you know what to expect on your next trip, then stopped for lunch. Sit and wait to be served.
The order: Spaghetti Carbonara, Shrimp fettuccini with orange zest and potato pizza. Despite the airport’s crowd, it felt like having lunch at a calm restaurant.
Exceptional food! Outstanding food indeed! Super duper tasty pasta cooked the way I like it. Al dente, herd textured, rich, intense, creamy and loaded with flavors. Bravo! High-quality food found at an airport! That’s something rare to find.
I loved the carbonara, swine taste, creamy feel of the egg yolks, pepper, and chewy bacon. The fettuccini is even better, lightly sweet, crunchy almonds and juicy shrimp.
Excellent pasta... Oh! And wait until you try their pizza! Oh My Goodness, one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had in my life! The crust is so good! Thin but not soaked and the borders are so fluffy I felt like sleeping on them. Order the potato pizza, yes, potato on bread, with slices of bacon. Best of the best!
Two thumbs up chefs; I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends. If you are passing through Rome airport, you have to stop by Farinella.
