While visiting Dubai earlier this month, I was happily surprised to discover new things happening, starting with the airport new Concourse D at Dubai Airport, where you will also find the latest Skyteam lounge that boasts the new decor and class, Skyteam is renowned for.

Dubai, the land of discoveries... there's always something new to look out for... the new Concourse D even includes the first Pret a Manger to open in Middle East.

Now open in Dubai's Terminal 1, Concourse D, the Skyteam lounge is an architectural masterpiece. A bright lounge beautifully decorated with stripes of wood takes on a journey around a labyrinth creating intimate yet relaxing spaces. Where is the main color accompanied by spots of yellow and grey alongside pillows of orange and light green.

SkyTeam’s Dubai lounge is set over 960 square meters and has seating for 180 customers. Open 24/7, the new facility includes the following highlights:

  • Quality amenities: Complimentary hot and cold snacks representing the cuisines of the member airlines in Dubai are on offer throughout the day and the lounge features an elegant bar. Shower facilities are available for passengers wishing to freshen up.
  • Aesthetic interior: Featuring SkyTeam’s ‘New Concept’ in lounge design, the Dubai space maintains sleek, modern curves while using accents of wood to add warmth. Combined with a ‘living wall’ of plants, this brings nature into the airport experience. The lounge also features a Digital Art Gallery, featuring works by different artists.
  • Connectivity: Unlimited Wi-Fi, a business centre with printing facilities and a VIP room cater to corporate travellers. Numerous electrical outlets are located throughout the lounge to recharge electronic devices.
  • Entertainment: A separate TV room maintains a tranquil ambiance and a dedicated children’s room keeps mini-globetrotters occupied. Customers can also choose from a wide selection of local and international newspapers and magazines.

Choose a sofa or a leather seat, a stool or a normal chair, the lounge has it all for everyone. Pass the counter and be welcomed by a newsstand facing a wall of fresh greenery, a choice of food beautifully presented and carefully displayed, a balanced lunch menu that includes rice, pasta, meat, hummus, bites, salads, kebbeh... as well as a fridge display of sweets.

Down the hall, enjoy an intimate alcohol bar with a reasonable choice of bottles along the walls. Wines from France, whiskies and vodka are all at your fingertips.

The lounge also has two private rooms; a tv room and a kids corner. A business center is here to help you finish your work.

With a view onto the terminal, natural light comes in from the airport ceiling and enough lanterns to brighten up your day, the lounge is a relaxing place to spend a couple hours before your flying. They even have USB plugs next to every seat.

One of the classiest Skyteam lounges I've visited to date, Dubai's business space reminded me of Charles de Gaulle's terminal M lounge which I make sure to visit every time I pass by the French capital.
