Located in the heart of Larnaca airport's international terminal, Central Bar is known for its sushi and wide selection of draft beers - Guinness, Carlsberg, Keo, Estrella, Magners, Leon and Peroni among others.
In the heart of the action surrounded by hundreds of travelers I sat at the bar to enjoy some Maki rolls. On the menu: platters, sashimi, sushi, Maki, temaki and salads. With that I had a beer, one of my favorites, the dark Guinness which offers a rich taste of coffee with a soft end note of enjoyable bitterness. As it's a stout beer it's so creamy and distinctly different to all other types of beer.
Service is slow, three employees are overwhelmed, and unable to satisfy all orders. Take a deep breath, it's worth the wait; the place serves decent food that's not junk or fried like its neighbors.
Dragon Maki, crunchy salmon Maki, golden Maki and volcano Maki. Four orders each of eight pieces, carefully rolled a la minute by a smiley chef.
The rice is not sticky, the ingredients used are good but there's way too much mayonnaise. A bit more cooking for the rice, a bit more flavor here and there but to tell you the truth it's more than enough for airport food.
I loved my Guinness though...
