It's a place with an American name, it's proudly the supplier of the American pavilion at Milan Expo and also has a menu in Italian. What a good first impression, especially because I came here because people say they have a good burger and the best bagels.
The place is fabulous. A large space decorated with hundreds of baskets hanging from the ceiling, wooden chairs and tables, a concrete floor painted in white in a restaurant that oozes with American vibes. One fridge displays New York-style cakes and pies and the menu has everything from breakfast, burgers and sandwiches to famous desserts.
The place again is fabulous, a lovely bakery.
Breakfast, bagel, sandwiches, hamburger, tasty green teas, drinks and beers.
We ordered a burger, bagel and two desserts and the desserts were served before the food! What an intelligent gesture.
I loved the presentation of plates and the portion sizes. I was impressed by the food.
Let's eat:
- The apple pie is good. The real American style, a shortbread pastry at the bottom and another on top filled with caramelized apple slices in the middle. The dough is topped with sugar. Now that we had the pies, a basket of bread landed on the table.
- The Italian burger: Even though it has no sauce, this burger is unique. Meat of a very good quality, a tender, lightly crispy bun with a soft heart, a juicy meat, despite it being over cooked, and with that a melting cheese, cooked eggplants and sun dried tomatoes which give the added value and taste. This burger surely needs some sauce -try it with ketchup and mustard- to get where it should be, but it's good enough.
- Salmon bagel: Tomatoes with salmon! Oh my God! Remove the tomatoes and enjoy one of the best bagels I've had in the last year or so. A super tender bagel with this end note of chewiness, premium quality salmon, cream cheese and sesame covering it. That's how a bagel really should be.
- The blueberry cheesecake rocks! A big portion of baked cheese, a crunchy bottom and blueberries on top. It's just as it should be. Bravo!
Exactly as the title suggests: Good food, my favorite burger in Milan to date, amazing bagels, tasty cakes, and an awesome blueberry pie. If only the owners took a little more care over the details.
