After doing some research online, I was led to Cafe Luitpold. Cafe Luitpold is described as one of the most best places to enjoy good desserts in Munich. It is indeed a busy café, a fine place, attractive and classy with a bar centered in the middle displaying chocolates and cakes.

Enter into a very large restaurant where you’ll find a bar and two dining areas - one is located right under a setup of a Roman Temple while the other in an atrium under the glass arcade.

The menu has everything from breakfast to lunch and dinner as well as a selection of cakes.

We ordered four of their cakes, each slice served on a small porcelain plate and Chocolate Chili espresso.

The place is beautiful, the setup is classy, waiters are gentle and welcoming but desserts are deceiving.

Chocolate Chili espresso has an espresso taste, a hint of chocolate taste which isn't felt much, some whipped cream on top and some after notes of spicy chili that tickle your throat. The chili taste could be stronger as well as the chocolate, and the coffee is better served hot next time.

The four cakes we ordered looked almost the same. Layers of cake and chocolate cream, cut clean. They are beautiful to look at, but a bit hard to swallow, as they are a bit dry and lack juiciness and fluffiness. Nothing special about them, one is dry, the second is too sweet, the third is buttery and the fourth is too creamy. Not my kind of desserts at all.

I came here with high expectations and left deceived. Is this one of Munich's best dessert shops? I highly doubt that…
