Having breakfast this morning we headed down to Paul at the Burjuman Mall. Paul usually offers the same quality and service all around the world with a menu that speaks the local language. It's a typical place with wooden tables, the authentic French decor and the menu printed in French and Arabic...
Before we start let's clarify a point. I'm not sure why but a meal at Paul is never the same. This is why I said "Supposed to be the same" earlier. I have been to branches in Paris, Oman, Lebanon, UAE and Saudi Arabia to name a few with a different experience every single time. Some are good others bad, there's a lack of consistency to this brand.
This morning we're having breakfast, a bread basket with three choices proposed, olive oil and balsamic vinegar bottles and Paul's fresh butter. Oh my God, the butter is addictive and enjoyed with tender and moist bread, an excellent way to start your day in style.
On the menu:
- Danish pastry and bread
- Three choices of breakfast
- Toasted sandwiches
- Sandwiches
- The parfaits
- The drinks
Breakfast was enjoyable and surely recommended; to say it honestly, I was not expecting it at all!
A plate of eggs Benedict, loaded with lettuce, potato wedges and ketchup. Two poached eggs and you're ready to go. Light bodied hollandaise sauce made with vinegar covering two poached eggs cooked to perfection laying on a bed of good quality smoked salmon. A warm mix of equilibrated flavors and textures. Add salt and pepper for a double pleasure. I loved the wedges, the freshness of the salad, the toasted muffin and the ingredients quality.
The Camembert turkey croissant is next: a buttery croissant stuffed with thick chunks of turkey breast, Camembert cheese, tomato slices, lettuce and caramelized onions which add a light and enjoyable sweetness.
With that I had a double espresso with hot water in the side served in a big cup. Paul uses Lavazza, a selection of different coffees you can choose from.
Enjoyable and repeatable; have the croissant and eggs Benedict.
