This is without any doubt the best burger place in Paris. I've been here three times already and every time I leave happy. At Big Fernand customer is king. It’s a place where the staff continuously smiles, where the burger is French and unique and the ambiance is positive. It’s a place where I walk in with a smile on my face and walk out with an even bigger one on my face.
I have been to three of their branches and the experience doesn't seem to differ in each. Place du Marche St. Honore is where I'm having dinner tonight. The space boasts three wooden tables and a wooden wall creating a unique ambiance facing the open kitchen. The sounds of grilling meat, sizzling fries… Yummy.
Wrapped in paper, the burger has a homey feel to it. As simple as it is -and should be- it fits between your teeth without any effort. A sweet touch, a good bun, a rich meat, a little bit of raclette cheese, chives, cocktail sauce, big Fernand barbecue sauce and bacon. All of this in a small burger that feels like home. Simplicity is key and it works perfectly well here. Unwrap and discover a ball. Yes a ball-like burger of fresh bun with two parts covering one another without anything spilling out. The meat doesn't show nor do the ingredients until you venture into your first bite.
Close your eyes and imagine... A thin bun emptied from the inside, cut easily with your teeth while plunging into a thick layer of white non-oily and melted cheese that protects the freshly prepared meat. Juicy meat full of flavors and love, and trust me you will feel the love. Different from conventional American burgers, Fernand's burger has only one soft texture of ingredients that melt under your teeth like butter. Everything inside is cooked to perfection, the cheese, meat, grilled tomato and shredded parsley all add up to create a fine burger: Big Fernand burger.
The Big Fernand is delicious and the Bartholome is succulent. French bread, covered with sesame seeds, is stuffed with a piece of juicy pure beef patty covered with melting cheese; sun dried tomatoes and sauce. What makes all the difference is the shredded parsley. Parsley makes it unique and different. The latter burger is even juicier and tastier with racketeering cheese, bacon, caramelized onions and the homemade barbecue sauce.
The fries are to die for but contain way too much garlic powder for me.
