Closer to home, the Metn area was in dire need of a nice and decent restaurant. Not a fast food chain, not a Lebanese diner or sandwich shop, but a simple place where one can go and enjoy good food in a nice ambiance.
Baguette&Co is the place I am talking about. I came here a week ago and now I am back with my family to enjoy a nice outing without having to drive out of the area, head down to Dbayeh or even Beirut…
The last time I was here, I suggested that a few things be changed, and to my happy surprise they were. The place was transformed at a whip of a magic stick. Impressive. The long bench has been fixed and has become more pleasant to eat on; the music fits the place better and the ashtrays were changed… some hard work has been poured into fine tuning the menu.
I am back for lunch. A fresh ambiance of beautiful and colorful flowers welcome you, as sunny spells enter from everywhere. Look around the square space and you’ll find colorful flower pots on light wooden tables, a small balcony that’s perfect for a family setting… and terrace outside the restaurant welcomes those who prefer to sit outdoors…a television, light blue colors… I came here with my kids and spent some quality time together.
Lunch was served:
- Mexican Salad: Beans, mini corn, cheddar cheese, marinated chicken, colored bell pepper, peanuts, Lolo Rosso and Lolo Verde lettuce, carrots, avocado. White sauce with honey. A flavorful and generous salad where every bye promises a crunch, freshness and a hint of sweetness. I loved the blend between the mini corn, the beans and the carrots while the chicken is moist and well marinated without garlic.
- Smoked Salmon: Smoked salmon, cucumbers, lettuce, lemon, avocado, pickled onions, capers, cream cheese. As good as you would expect it to be, the salad is fresh and generous. Premium salmon quality is used.
- Steak Sub: Here is where things become more fun. Soft homemade bread filled with a mix of tender meat with its sauce, served warm. Enjoyable to the last bite. Pickles add a touch and crunch I liked.
- Chicken Tendory Sandwich: Filled inside Ciabatta bread which I found a bit dry, is a mix of tender and moist chicken, lightly spicy and fresh mixed with colorful bell pepper slices. Pickles add an interesting crunch and sweetness at the same time. A good sandwich but I'll make the bread moister.
Two salads and two sandwiches, lunch was good as expected. My second visit and my second enjoyment.
One of my favorite orders here is their chocolate cocoa crepe. A dark colored crepe filled with melted dark chocolate and a scoop of vanilla ice cream from Oslo on the side. I like the smoothness and light chewiness of the crepe as well as the quality and taste of the melted chocolate heart; recommended!
This is what I call a professional restaurant with continuous improvements and guaranteed satisfaction.
