More than 70 rooms, each room is different than the other but all built with great attention to design, finesse and luxury. The hotel is somehow a hidden treasure in Beirut as not many of us know or have heard about it. I had the chance to go in discovering the details that truly make this hotel that feels like a true Lebanese village in the heart of the city.
The Project Concept:
When the villager abou Ahmad left his village and headed to the city, seeking bread for his family, his heart remained in the village, longing back its old days, and longing the passion to walk through its alleys. Yet, after the long absence, his dreams were lost when he came back to find his lovely village turned into a city. Abu Ahmad decided to retrieve his lost village and to redraw it the way it used to be. Hence, he went to collect the instruments and elements of the lost village and the bricks of its ruined houses; he packed them along with his belongings, and invaded the city with his paraphernalia, to become a pioneer in shifting balances and changing the succession of cultures. Abu Ahmad spared no effort; he started drawing the structure of his almost vanished village, incarnating it through the architectural void. The vault, the caravan serai, the terrace, the shops and the attic. Thus, his village was revealed as a live museum of the traditional environment with its architecture, life styles and antique tools of different daily life activities. Abu Ahmad's village is "Assaha Lebanese Traditional Village", the typical village of the civilized traditional style, all the family members.
Assaha Hotel:
Located less than 4 km from Rafic Hariri Airport, this design hotel looks like an authentic Lebanese village. Traditional craft shops, a butcher and restaurants are set around the central square.Each room's décor is unique and reflects different civilizations. All of them include balconies, minibars and flat-screen TVs with satellite channels.Assaha Restaurant is set in a cellar-style room, with brick walls, wooden tables and Persian carpets. After a rich meal of Lebanese food, you can relax with waterpipes.Guests can enjoy the sun on Assaha Hotel's terrace, or take a walk in the palm garden. The hotel has a library and a playground for younger guests.Beirut’s city center is a 15-minute drive from Assaha Hotel.
