Driving on the highway to Beirut you can’t but notice a blue house facing Beirut seaport. Located between The Gathering and Mayrig on Gemmayze Pasteur street, Appetito Trattoria has opened its second branch in Beirut. After the huge success in Hamra here comes Achrafieh’s Italian eatery.
Meeting an old friend of mine, we chose Appetito for lunch. A nice chat, positive vibes, calm on a Wednesday afternoon and some tasty bites.
Pasta, pizza and everything in between, simple and traditional Italian food is what Appetito is known for. Have a pizza with its thin crust and fluffy borders. Enjoy rolling some pasta on your fork, cooked al dente giving them an interesting texture. Tomato sauce with an acidic finish. Crepes that reminded me of my grandma.
Lunch started with a calamari and seafood salad; grilled calamari, intensely lemony and well seasoned.
Crêpes! Oh My God, these crêpes! Delicious savory crepes filled with spinach and bathing in fresh cream. Perfectly cooked, the crepes are not sweet, the spinach is perfectly cooked, and the fresh cream adds the creaminess this plate deserves. So yumm! I even asked my wife to visit and try to reproduce this plate st home.
Spaghetti cooked al dente without garlic and mixed with shrimp and cherry tomatoes in a tomato sauce. Excellent!
Food is good at Appetito Trattoria; I enjoyed my lunch and will recommend it to my friends.
