Back in 2014, I discovered a restaurant on the Sawfar-Bekaa highway, preparing the country’s tastiest and juiciest birds. It’s where birds are prepared with care and much love, caressed on the grill, wrapped with bread and served a dozen at a time. Passing for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon, I had the chance to enjoy a traditional Lebanese experience loaded with flavors.
No garlic is used in Al Sultan’s kitchens and I respect that; A good creamy hummus, a refreshing salad, fresh vegetables, crunchy cheese rolls, zesty grapevine leaves cooked to perfection and the birds...
A dozen amazingly juicy birds, fatty inside out, tender and loaded with meat. They are crunchy, explode with their flavors under the teeth and leave pleasant after-flavors in the mouth. The best birds I’ve ever tasted prepared with such know-how, love, and attention like a hunter does for himself, after a long day in the forest. Wrapped with Markouk bread, the birds are ready to be enjoyed with your fork, no bread, no hummus, as is, with the fork. I discovered them in 2014 and was back for the same exact amazing quality in 2018... I’ll remember these birds for long.
If you’re a grilled birds fan, it’s the restaurant of choice.
