A Culinary Journey Around Europe’s Greatest Cities: London 2012: Day3

It's 07:30am on a fresh sunny Saturday morning on a calm and serene street, as my wife and I grabbed a cab to visit The Borough Market. After visiting the Real Food Market Borough was the next culinary address. From my side, I preferred the Real Food market nevertheless Borough is an exciting experience.

After that was time to go back to the conference for a photography morning. There I decided to keep my professional camera aside and try to get the most out of my iPhone an see what it can do. The results were astonishing! At a walking distance from the hotel is the Piccadilly circus and the surrounding streets. We've been moving around the Leicester Square and Regent Street but didn't look at the details on this long side street. Why not try it today? Picadilly Street is one of the most interesting streets of all hosting interesting shops, hotels and shopping arcades: Paul, De Beers, Le Meridian, The Ritz, Audi luxury showroom, M&S food to name a few... I loved the Burlington Arcade and the Piccadilly Shopping Arcade where shopping in these two fine architecturally detailed streets is a pleasure.

The best discovery tonight, and second best after Harrods during this trip is the food area of Fortnum & Mason. It's WOW! It's very different from Harrods, even more luxurious with high-end goods from all over the world. I especially the ones they produce and beautifully packed. They different kinds of Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Mustard that they produce, all kinds of teas, chutneys, chocolates... Whatever you dream off. A delicatessen haven with items beautifully displayed on the two floors covered with relaxing carpet, high ceiling and nice details furniture.

Buying is a feeling not a necessity, you just feel inspired an feel like buying it all.

We continued our discovery and journey walking and enjoying luxury on many levels. We passed in front one of the most beautiful car showrooms, one of which was the Audi one, then we passed by the very high-end Ritz Hotel and stopped by mistake in front of a big yellow bus doing night visits of the capital. Perfect! A great opportunity for you businessmen out there to visit the capital after a long day's work.

The night tour interesting itinerary:

- The first Hard Rock Cafe to open in the world - The Kensington area: the embassies quarter, royal Albert hall, Prince Albert memorial - The Imperial College of London, part of the top 10 list of international universities - The Natural History Museum - The beautiful Harrods amazingly lit at night: in 1890 the first escalators in the world were installed here - Hide park corner, the busiest round about in London - Links Bro Hotel, the most expensive in London - Dorchester Hotel, an 80 years company, owned by Sultan of Brunei - The biggest IMAX cinema in Europe - The financial district on Lombard street - London Bridge - Trafalgare square - The Tower Bridge And much much more...

I learned some interesting things tonight:

- London has more than 8000 pubs - Bureau de change - Dragon is the symbol of the city of London where at its entrance on all sides a metallic sculpture welcomes its guests - The oldest pubs in the world - St. Paul cathedral's Dome is the 2nd biggest in Europe after the Vatican's St. Pierre church.

We got stuck in traffic and missed a restaurant I really wanted to try.

Check out this nice booking system; It's really professional and quickA place where ordering your food comes from the future: "inamo is a pioneering Oriental fusion restaurant and bar where the control of the dining experience is placed firmly in your hands. Our mission is to provide delicious cuisine with charming and timely service in a warm and vibrant atmosphere. At the core of Inamo is our interactive ordering system. Diners place orders from an illustrated food and drinks menu projected on to their table surface. You'll set the mood, discover the local neighbourhood, and even order a taxi home. Our dedicated and friendly staff are always on hand to help with whatever you need." So we moved to plan b, walking around Leicester square where we decided to check some of its pubs and enjoy some beers like the English do. Three full and exciting days living the London spirit. A wonderful city I urge you to discover. We left for the airport, where shopping continued at the amazing Heathrow airport before accessing the Skyteam lounge to relax before jumping to Paris where another adventure awaits.
