I've been to the Sofitel in London, tried the Sofitel in Paris and now Brussels. All Sofitel hotels offer the same luxurious experience one expects. Le Louise is indeed luxurious, but is situated in a business district and lacks the personalized service I’ve had in Paris and London.
On the main shopping boulevard of Brussels, the Sofitel welcomes you for a pleasant sty in the capital. Up the long escalator is the lobby. Warm lighting with touches of color, the staff awaits your arrival with a big smile and a positive attitude; that's the best part of the Sofitel experience, always feeling special and unique.
Next to the lobby, a table offers a selection of four different tea mixes. I tried the apple, pineapple and cinnamon, which is rich in flavor and aroma. To the left is the bar, a very big bar, pumping with people while another saloon, facing the lobby, is closed off by a glass door for a calmer experience where meetings are usually held.
The hotel has two buildings with two different elevators. The right sided one had the gym on its first floor, a beautiful room of mirrors and light green colors. Grab a green apple after your workout and go back to your room.
Now for the rooms. We had the 28 sqm room with a Nespresso machine, a mini bar, a space that looked like a walk-in closet, a large LCD television, a working desk, a relaxing chair and a queen-sized bed. The best item is the Bose musical unit. The bathroom is big enough; a well lit mirror, a toilet and a shower with its red cozy led light.
The little details I enjoyed:
- All rooms are equipped with Philips televisions, those with colorful LED lights, adding a funky ambiance to the room.
- Breakfast at the hotel is good.
The minuses:
- On a Saturday night, the concierge disappeared; not acceptable to say the least.
- They're stingy on the amenities, you have to ask continuously for shampoo and water bottles, else they won't make it to your room.
A nice stay but nothing exceptional, unlike the usual Sofitel experience. Something was missing.
